Hi, welcome back to the start of another school year! Since the school year always (in Arizona) starts out with hot weather could you please send:
Water Bottles: Please send your child/children to school with a water bottle that is re-usable (and can be left at school) labeled with their full name, their teacher's name, and room #. It is so HOT here we really want to make sure the children stay well hydrated. If you do not have one please contact me and I will provide one for them.
SUNSCREEN: Please also have your children apply sunscreen before they leave in the morning. The suns ultraviolet rays are very strong, and the children are out at recess during lunch for 25min. they need to have their exercise but while they're staying healthy by physical activity, we need to keep their skin protected from the suns harmful rays.
Each week I try to have a "Nurse News" educational announcement on the morning announcements for the children. Some of the topics covered: the importance of breakfast, sleep, exercise,
HAND WASHING(especially important to keep the flu germs away), backpack weights, helmet safety, water safety and lice to name a few. Please encourage healthy habits each day, especially good nutrition, adequate sleep and hand washing. If you have any topics you would like me to talk about please suggest them!
If you have any health concerns about your child please do not hesitate to call or stop by. It is really a pleasure to work with your children.
Thank-you,
Paula Rutt
